Review of the Crime and Misconduct Act 2001

On 11 October 2012, the Queensland Government announced the appointment of an expert advisory panel to review the Crime and Misconduct Act 2001.

The focus of the review included ensuring public confidence in the Act and improving the operations of agencies such as the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC). It also considered how agencies such as the CMC prioritise their focus on matters such as criminal organisations and the elimination of corruption in public affairs.

The review was undertaken by former High Court Justice, the Honourable Ian Callinan AC and University of Queensland Professor Nicholas Aroney. Public submissions were sought as part of the review.

The advisory panel was required to provide a report to the Attorney-General by 28 March 2013.
