Expungement of historical homosexual convictions

Consensual male homosexual activity stopped being a criminal offence in 1991 and you can now apply to have existing convictions expunged.

Convictions and charges for relevant offences that occurred before 19 January 1991 can be expunged under the Criminal Law (Historical Homosexual Convictions Expungement) Act 2017.

The Act allows for the expungement of Criminal Code male homosexual offences and public morality offences.
