A JP (Qual) has limited powers in relation to the Customs Act 1901. What they are and how you use them are described in this chapter of the Duties of Justices of the Peace (Qualified) and Commissioners for Declarations handbook.

This chapter relates to duties which can only be carried out by Justices of the Peace (Qualified).

This chapter should be read in conjunction with Chapter 4.1- Witnessing documents - general procedure and Chapter 4.6 - Administering oaths and affirmations.
