Wetland Tracker (WT) is a rapid assessment method for assessing the condition of freshwater floodplain wetlands in the Great Barrier Reef Catchment Area (GBRCA). Wetland condition is the overarching term used to describe the pressures on, and the state of, wetland environmental values (WEVs). Change in wetland condition is a measured reduction or increase in pressures on wetlands and/or shifts in the state showing an improvement or decline in the environmental values of natural wetlands within the monitored population. This review provides an evidence base for the construct validity of the WT indices and indicators used to track the condition of wetlands. This evidence, drawn from available environmental, ecological, and resource management literature, supports the conceptual links between WT pressure and state indices and indicators and, the condition of freshwater wetlands.
