Youth Detention Centre Inspection Framework
The Queensland government committed to the implementation of recommendation 17 as part of its response to the Forde Inquiry. Subsection 263(4) was duly inserted into the Youth Justice Act 1992 (YJA), and requires the Chief Executive (of the Department of Communities) to monitor the operation of the detention centres and to inspect each detention centre at least once every three months.
