Youth Detention Inspection Reports

The Youth Detention Inspectorate (YDI) is an internal oversight and continuous improvement function of the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support. Youth detention centre inspections are conducted in accordance with section 263(4) of the Youth Justice Act 1992 and are required to occur on a quarterly basis. YDI focus on driving continuous improvement to ensure youth detention services evolve with contemporary best practice. A written report is compiled after each inspection. An executive summary and response from the Youth Detention Operations and Reform is then published. Visit our webpage to learn more about oversight in youth detention.
