There’s an Indigenous business for that! Internal Government Promotional Pack

This promotional pack includes a range of content and resources to encourage our Queensland Government colleagues to take action and work with an Indigenous business.

Indigenous Business Month is a national initiative held in October to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution Indigenous businesses make to our economy and community. This October, we are calling on our Queensland Government public servants to consider where the spend is going and how we can make a difference.

Did you know there are Indigenous businesses in every industry ready to supply to government? Next time you make a purchase – why not work with an Indigenous business?

In Queensland there are 4,855 Queensland small business owners identifying as Aboriginal people and or Torres Strait Islander people, representing 1.5% of all Queensland small business owners.

Therefore, for most government departments – irrespective of jurisdiction or function – the greatest thing we may be able to do to positively influence the social and economic determinants of health may be to procure more services from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and operated businesses.
