Chapter 5.1 - Issuing summonses
Issued under the Justices Act 1886, a summons commands a person to attend a court at a prescribed time and place as set out in the form. Why a summons is issued and when to served it are described in this chapter of the Duties of Justices of the Peace (Qualified) and Commissioners for Declarations handbook.
This chapter relates to duties which can only be carried out by Justices of the Peace (Qualified).
This chapter should be read in conjunction with Chapter 4.1- Witnessing documents - general procedure and Chapter 4.6 - Administering oaths and affirmations.
